So what are you doing this weekend?
Uh... Wrong.
You are going to change plans immediately and head to Pennsylvania's most incredible contribution to the world of arts. The region's fastest-growing tourist attraction. It's loudest international confab.
Dammit, this is good stuff. You NEED to go.
That's right, it's time for the annual Ridgway Chainsaw Carving Rendezvous.
I am not kidding. This is real art. And it's a real indication of the interesting things that can happen when the whole heritage/future/industry/arts of the region actually intersect.
Grassroots, baby. Loads of fun. All volunteer. World-class. (Really it is. Ridgway is the center of the rapidly expanding chainsaw carving universe.)
So get thee to Ridgway.
Oh, and don't forget your big-boy pants and drinking shoes. You'll need them.
Want to know more? Read chapter 11 of this book.
Here we go in Erie again. They are actually floating a idea to build a Magicians Museum in Erie County Pa. At one time a local born magician was a friend of Harry Houdini. They have mentioned it to Rendell on his recent stop in Erie. They are looking for state help. Price tag $12 million. Now that would be pulling a rabbit out of your hat. Ouch!
