Chad Hermann: Call your office.
Or just link directly to this editorial about Erie's new convention center. It's a little long in the tooth. But well worth it.
Forget about the issues at hand. And the fact that just about every half-assed 'burg in America has already tried and failed to use a convention center to make everything better. Yes. Forget all that and focus on the writing. I hate to do this. Really I do. I am sure that even a casual perusal of this blog would reveal plenty of awkward phrasing. But sometimes... well, look for yourself:
The Bayfront Convention Center stirred the pot, shook up the status quo and proved Erie could hit big-league pitching in terms of accepting a daunting challenge and pursuing it with great effort.
Many public and private leaders played key roles in taking us to this point, but perhaps none more so than Roger Richards, the lawyer and businessman who wrestled this project to fruition for the Erie County Convention Center Authority.
Gov. Ed Rendell also came through in the clutch with money to finish the project.
In the big picture, the convention center represents an aggressive effort to diversify Erie's economy, focusing on tourism.
Wrestled it to fruition? Big league pitching in terms of accepting?
Wow.
Columbus Dispatch had something in its Sunday paper about 'center city' and a 'revival.' ??
Hope to read a review and pointer to that article here.
